Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has inaugurated two major canal-based water treatment plants in Patiala district, constructed at a cost of ₹432.6 crore. Designed to meet the regional drinking water needs until 2049, the facilities—located in Mandoli (₹266.2 crore) and Pabra (₹166.4 crore)—have a combined treatment capacity of 58 million litres per day. The project will supply clean drinking water to over 4.5 lakh residents across 75,000 households in 316 villages, covering the Ghanaur, Rajpura, Sanour, Patiala Rural, and Shambu Kalan regions. Equipped with automated SCADA systems, level sensors, and centralized monitoring dashboards, the plants will be maintained by the executing agency for 10 years with active support from local village-level committees.
